Total Resistance = 1/(1/4 + 1/6 + 1/8)  =  24/(6 + 4 + 3)  = 24/13 Ω

Total Current = 24/(24/13) = 13 A

Current through 8  Ω resistor  = 24/8 = 3 A

power consumed by 8 ohm resistor = 3² * 8 = 72 W
