H2SO4 is a dibasic acid. Ie., it's Basicity is 2. It contains 2 replaceable H-atoms.

In other words 1 mole of H2SO4 will give 2 moles of H+ ions.

1 mole of H2SO4, react with 2 moles of NaOH, whose Acidity is 1.

So Equivalent Mass of H2SO4 is

= Molecular Mass/2 = 98/2 = 49
