Answer :-

\sf\huge\boxed{y = - 3}

Explanation :-

Given :

  • The two points - (2 , y) and (10 , -9)

  • Distance between the two points - 10

To find :

The value of y

Solution :

Distance between the points = 10

According to question,

=> √(2 - 10)² + {y - (-9)}² = 10

=> √(-8)² + (y + 9)² = 10

=> 64 + (y + 9)² = (10)²

=> 64 + (y + 9)² = 100

=> (y + 9)² = 100 - 64

=> (y + 9)² = 36

=> y + 9 = √36

=> y + 9 = 6

=> y = 6 - 9

=> y = - 3

Hence, the value of y is - 3
