Given:

  • Mass,m = 1000 kg

  • Final velocity,v = 0 m/s

  • Initial velocity,u = 20 m/s

  • Time taken,t = 10 s

To be calculated:

Calculate force acting on an object?

Formula used:

  • Acceleration, a = v - u / t

  • Force = mass(m) × acceleration(a)

Solution:

Acceleration = v - u / t

★ Substituting the values in the above formula,we get

Acceleration = 0 - 20 / 10

= -20 / 10

= -2 m/s² [ negative acceleration ]

Now,

Force = mass × acceleration

★ Putting the value of mass and acceleration ,we get

Force = 1000 kg × -2 m/s²

= - 2000 kg.m/s²

= - 2000 N

Thus,the force acting on an object is -2000 Newtons.
