Kinetic energy of a body is defined as the energy possessed by a body by virtue of its motion.

θ (theta) will have maximum potential energy when mass is at lowest point that is when mass has no velocity.

The maximum kinetic energy is found when it is at lowest point.

hence Potential energy = Kinetic energy = mgh

When both are equal we get

K.E = mgL(1 - cosθ)
