Answer:

LCV = 6035.42 Cal/g

Explanation:

Given,

High calorific value, HCV = 6500 Cal/g.

Latetnt heat of steam = 580 Cal/g.

Weight of hydrogen = 8.9%

Lower calorific value, LCV =?

So, according to Dulong's formula ,

LCV = HCV -[ ( weight of hydrogen in %/100) × 9 × latent heat of steam]

so,

LCV = 6500 - [(\frac{8.9}{100} ) * 9 * 580]

LCV = 6500 - (0.089 * 9 * 580)

LCV = 6500 - 464.58

LCV = 6035.42 Cal/g.

RESULT: Lower calorific value (LCV) IS 6035.42 Cal/g.
