The solution is homogenous mixture that is composed two components. One component is called as solute and another is known as a solvent. Solutes are usually in solid state and found in fewer amounts in a solution Such as in a sugar solution, sugar is a solute. But it is not necessary that the solute is in solid state only. In solution of oil in water, oil or water can be solute that is in liquid state. The solvent is another component of a solution that is found in more quantity such as in sugar solution, water serves as solvent. Just like solute, solvent can also be in other physical states such as in smoke, smoke particles are solute and air is solvent. The concentration of a solution can be defined as the amount of solute that is dissolved in per unit volume of solvent.
