Hey !!

Let the mass of solution be 100 g

Mass of Benzene = 30 g

Mass of carbon tetrachloride = 100 g - 30 g = 770 g

Number of moles of benzene = Mass / Molar mass

                     = 30 g / 78 g mol⁻¹

                     = 0.385 mol

Number of moles of carbon tetrachloride = Mass / Molar mass

                   = 70 g / 154 g mol⁻¹

                   = 0.455 mol

Mole fraction of benzene = Mass of benzene / Moles of benzene + Moles of tetrachloride

                 = 0.385 mol / 0.840 mol

FINAL RESULT  :- 0.458

Hope it helps you !!

The mole fraction of benzene is 0.458.

Given:

30 by mass of ccl4.

To Find:

The mole fraction of benzene in solution containing 30 by mass in ccl4.

Solution:

To find the mole fraction of benzene we will follow the following steps:

As we know,

Mole fraction of benzene can be calculated as:

 \frac{n1}{n1 + n2}

Here, n1 is moles of benzene while n2 is moles of CCl4.

Also,

The Molecular mass of benzene is 78 grams and the molecular mass of CCl4 is

Now,

30 by mass of CCl4 means 30 grams of CCl4 present in 100 grams of solution.

So,

Mass of benzene is 100-30 = 70 grams.

Moles of benzene =

 \frac{given \: mass}{molar \: mass}   = n1=  \frac{70}{78}  = 0.385

Similarly,

Moles of CCl4 =

n2 =  \frac{30}{154} =  0.455

Mole fraction =

 \frac{ 0.385 }{0.455+0.385}  = \frac{0.385}{0.84} = 0.458

Henceforth, the mole fraction of benzene is

Henceforth, the mole fraction of benzene is #SPJ2
