One mole of carbon contains 6.022×10²³ atoms of carbon.

So, 0.5 mol of carbon will contain 6.022×12²³/2 = 3.011×10²³ atoms.

O.5 mol C12 x 6.022x10^23 = 3.011x10^23atoms of C12. The trick is if you have number of atoms in this many atoms only have 1 step. If it was atoms in h2o then their would be 3 atoms per h2o molecule and thus 3x as many in a half a mol of C12
