no. of electrons in one molecule of CH4 = 10 (6 e- from one C-atom and 4 e- from 4 H-atoms)

Now, given mass of CH4 = 1.6 g

Molar mass = 12 + 1 × 4 = 16 g

No. of moles = 1.6/16 = 0.1 mole

Now, no. of molecules of CH4 in 0.1 mole = 6.022 × 10^23 ~ 6 × 10^23 molecules

We know, one molecule has 10 e -

therefore, total no. of e- = 6 × 10^23 × 10 = 6 × 10^24 e-

Hence, 1.6 g of methane has 6 × 10^24 electrons.
