We have to gold atoms present in 98.5 g of gold.

solution : atomic mass of gold = 197 g/mol

given mass of gold = 98.5 g

so the no of moles of gold = given mass/atomic mass of gold

= 98.5/197 = 0.5 mol

∵ number of atoms of an element = no of moles of that element × Avogadro's number

∴ number of gold atoms = no of moles of gold × Avogadro's number

= 0.5 × 6.023 × 10²³

= 3.0115 × 10²³

Therefore the number of gold atoms present in 98.5 g of gold is 3.0115 × 10²³.
