Mass of 1 mole of methane = mass of C + 4 x mass of H

  = 12 + 4
   =16 g

Number of molecules in 1 mole (16g) of methane = 6.023 x 1023

Therefore,

1 mole methane contains 6.022 x 10^23/26*2
= 0.37 x 10^23 molecules
