The equivalent weight of an atom is given by ratio of Atomic mass of the atom and the valency of the atom.
i.e, Equivalent weight = Atomic Mass / valency
For Example: Ca
equivalent weight of calcium = 40.08 / 2 = 20.04
For Example: Na
equivalent weight of Na = 22.99 / 1 = 22.99
