Calculate percentage elements present in ammonium chloride (NH₄Cl).
(N=14, H=1, Cl=35.5)

H=1
Cl=35.5
Total mass of ammonium chloride=14+[1*4]+35.5
=53.5
% of nitrogen=mass of nitrogen in compund
----------------------------------------... *100
total mass of compund
=14/53.5 * 100
=26.168 g
=26.17 g.

Total mass of ammonium chloride = ( 14 + 1×4 + 35.5 ) = 53.5

percentage of nitrogen = mass of nitrogen in compound / total mass of compound × 100

= 14 / 53.5 × 100

= 26.168 g
= 26.17 g
