The calculation of pH can be done as -

Concentration 0.04 M

Degree of ionization 2.5%

Calculating the equilibrium concentration of acetic acid as follows -

Equilibrium concentration = C∝

Where C is the concentration and ∝ is the degree of ionization.

= 0.04 x 2.5/100

= 10 x 10^-4 M

Thus, pH= -log concentration

pH= -log 10 x 10^-4

= 1
