Given :

Area of contact of the screw (A) = 0.5 mm²

Weight = Force (F) = 50 N

To Find :

Pressure exerted by the screw on the wooden plank

Solution :

Force exerted by the screw (F) = weight = 50 N

Area of contact (A) = 0.5 mm²

                               = 0.5 × (10^{-3}

                               = 0.5 × 10^{-6}

Therefore,

Pressure exerted by the screw (P) = \frac{Force (F)}{Area (A)}

                                                          = \frac{50}{0.5 * 10^-^6}

                                                          = 10^8  N/m²

Hence, The pressure exerted by the screw on the wooden plank is  10^8  N/m².
