Answer:

The value of the three quartile Q1, Q2 and Q3 are 26, 45 and 60 respectively.

Explanation:

  • In context to the given question we have to find the three quartile of the given data
  • Given data;

15, 21, 26, 30, 40, 45, 50, 54, 60, 65, 70

⇒In order to find the quartile, we have to arrange the data in ascending order

But the data is already in ascending order.

Let the three quartile be Q1, Q2 and Q3

Calculation of Q1 = Size of (\frac{N+1}{4})th \\ term =Size of (\frac{11+1}{4})th \\ term

( Because N = number of terms )

Q1 = 12/4 = 3rd term = 26

Q1 = 26

Calculation of Q2 = Size of (\frac{N+1}{2})th \\ term =Size of (\frac{11+1}{2})th \\ term

( Because N = number of terms )

Q2 = 12/2 = 6th term = 45

Q2 = 45

Calculation of Q3 = Size of (\frac{3(N+1)}{4})th \\ term =Size of (\frac{3(11+1)}{4})th \\ term

( Because N = number of terms )

Q3 = 3(12)/4 = 36/4 = 9th term = 60

Q3 = 60

THEREFORE;

The value of the three quartile Q1, Q2 and Q3 are 26, 45 and 60 respectively.
