GIVEN,

5,8,7,11,14

TO FIND,

standard deviation.

SOLUTION,

we are given data of 5, 8, 7, 11, 14.

we know that,

mean of the numbers = \frac{sum of numbers}{no of numbers}

substituting the values,

                                    = \frac{5+7+8+11+14}{5}

                        MEAN = \frac{45}{5}

                                X = 9

Standard Deviation= Σ \sqrt{(\frac{x- X)^{2} } {n-1} }

⇒  Σ(x-X)² = 50,

⇒  n-1= 5-1= 4

substituting the values,

=√ \frac{50}{4}

solving further,

= √12.5

hence,

S.D.= 3.53

HENCE STANDARD DEVIATION OF THE GIVEN SAMPLE IS 3.53.
