as the work done is for raising the block :

mass (m) = 0.5 kg

height ( h ) = 20 cm

1 m = 100 cm

1 cm = 1/ 100 m

20 cm = 20 / 100 m

= 1/5 m

acceleration due to gravity = 10 m / s ^2 or 9.8 m / s ^2.

work done = force . distance

from newtons second law :

force = mass . accleration

☢️ W = m g h ( a = g due to gravity )

putting values :

W = ( 0.5) ( 10) ( 1/5)

W = ( 0.5 ) ( 2)

W = 1 joule
