Explanation:

No of moles (n) =

1000

Molarity×V

mL

Given:

M=0.5M

V

mL

=250mL

Therefore, n=

1000

0.5×250

=

1000

125

=0.125mol

Molar mass of NaOH = 40g

Mass of NaOH = 0.125×40=5g

Question :

Calculate the amount of NaOH to produce 250 ml of 5 molar NaOH solution.

Answer :

The amount of NaOH required is 50g

Given :

M = 5 M

V mL = 250 mL

To find :

The amount of NaOH required

Solution :

We know,

No.of moles (n) = 1000 / (Molarity × V ml)

Therefore,

n = 1000 ÷ (5 × 250)

= 1.25 mol

Molar mass of NaOH = 23 + 16 + 1 = 40

Mass of NaOH = 40 × 1.25

= 50g

Hence, the amount of NaOH required is 50g
