Total heat required = Heat required

to convert ice into water at 0 degree C (Q1)+ heat required to increase the temperature of water upto 100 degree C (Q2) + heat required to convert water into steam at 100 degree C (Q3)

Hence, Q1 = mL = 5*80 = 400 cal

Q2 = ms<>t

= 5*1 * (100-0) = 500 cal

Q3 = mL = 5*540 = 2700 cal

Hence, Q = Q1 + Q2 + Q3

= 400 + 500 + 2700

= 3600 cal
