T = Change in temperature = final temperature - initial temperature = 80°C - 20°C = 60°C

Q = M*S*T

= 500 grams * 1 cal/g°C *60°C

= 30000 cal

Now , 1 cal = 4.2 J

30000 cal = 4.2 J * 30000J

or, 30000 cal = 126000 J

Ans = 126000 J of heat is required to warm 500 grams of water from 20°C to 80°C
