calculate the amount of ice which is sufficient to cool 45g of water containing at 30 degree Celsius such that final temperature of mixture is 10 digree Celsius ​

Let mass of ice be ‘m’ gm

Heat gained by ice to form water at 0° C = m x 336

Heat gained by water formed from ice

=msΔT

=m x 4.2 x (10-0)

=42m J

total heat gained = 336m + 42m = (378m) J

Heat lost by water at 30°C =msΔT

= 45 x 4.2 x (30-10) = 3780J

Heat gained = Heat lost

378m = 3780

m=\frac{3780}{378} = '10gm'
