Explanation:

one mole of CH4 (8 g) on combustion gives one mole of carbon dioxide and 2 moles of water and 2 moles of water = 2 x [2 + 8] = 20 g of water

Given: 80g of methane

To find The amount of water produced.

Solution: For combustion of methane, CH₄ + 2O₂ → CO₂ + 2H₂0

One mole of methane produces 2 moles of water.

Molecular mass of CH₄ = 12 + 4 = 16

one mole of methane = 16g

80g of methane = 4 moles

4 moles of methane produce 8 moles of water.

Molecular mass of water = 2 + 16 = 18g

1 mole of water = 18g

8 mole of water = 18×8 = 144g

Therefore, 144g of water is produced by the combustion of 80g of methane.
