Answer :

Initial volume of He gas = 80L

Final volume of He gas = 169L

Pressure on gas = 1bar

We have to find work done by gas.

➤ For expansion/compression of a gas, work done is given by

  • W = - P × ∆V

P denotes pressure

∆V denotes change in volume

Conversion :

  • 1.01325 bar = 1 atm

Therefore, 1 bar = 1/1.01325 = 0.987 atm

Calculation :

⭆ W = - P × ∆V

⭆ W = - 0.987 × (150-80)

⭆ W = - 0.987 × 70

W = - 69.09 atm L

Cheers!
