Given:

✰ Principal ( P ) = Rs.760

✰ Rate = 3%

✰ Time ( T ) = 6 months

Calculate:

✠ The amount

Solution:

We will solve this question by using formula to calculate simple interest and then find it's amount.

As mentioned in the question above Rs. 760 for 6 months at 3% per annum which means yearly, so we will convert 6 months into years i.e,

6/12 = 1/2 year ( half year )

Simple Interest = Principal × Rate × Time/100

  • S.I. = P × R × T/100

  • S.I. = 760 × 3 × 1/ 100 × 2

  • S.I = 76 × 3 × 1/ 10 × 2

  • S.I = 228 × 1/ 10 × 2

  • S.I = 228 /10 × 2

  • S.I = 228/20

  • S.I = Rs. 11.4

Now, calculate amount

Amount = Principal + Interest

  • A = P + I

  • A = 760 + 11.4

  • A = Rs. 771.4

The amount = Rs. 771.4

N.B: On the same Sum and at the same rate of interest per annum, the interest of every year is same.

Here the concept of simple interest and amount has been used. We know that we can calculate the simple interest by using the formula :- PRT/100 and we can calculate amount by using the formula :- Principal + Simple interest . Here we are given principal is 760 rupees , time is 6 months and rate is 3% . So, in order to calculate the answer first we will calculate simple interest and then we will calculate our amount .
