In the figure it's given that the side is 14 cm and if you look at the figure then you can see 4 quarter circles which means if you half the side of a square
14/2 = 7
then 7cm will be the radius of the quarter circles
4 quarter circles means one whole circle then find the area —
π r² = 22/7 x 7² = 154cm²
then find the area of the square which will be
14² = 198cm²
then substract them -
154 - 198 = 42cm² which will be the area of the shaded part.
and for perimeter just find the circumference of the 4 quarter circles or one whole circle
2πr = 2 x 22/7 x 7 = 44cm
