as it is a equilateral triangle it has each side of 48/3=16

area of triangle=

 \frac{height \times base}{2}

so for the height will will divide the triangle into 2 right angled triangle

with Base 8cm and hypotenuse 16cm

using phythagorean theorem

 {8}^{2}  +  {x}^{2}  =  {16}^{2}

64 - 256 =  -  {x}^{2}

 - 192 =  -  {x}^{2}

 - x =  \sqrt{ - 192}

height=

 \sqrt{192}

area=

 \frac{ \sqrt{192}  \times 16}{2}

 \sqrt{192}  \times 16
