Step-by-step explanation:

Finding area of triangle DBC

As it is right angled triangle we can find its side by pythagoras theorem

base^2 + height^2 = hypo^2

base= 8cm, height=?, hypo= 17cm

8^2+h^2 = 17^2

64+h^2= 289

h^2 = 225

h= 15cm           = DB= 15cm

area of triangle= 1/2 * base* height

1/2 * 8^2 * 15^2

7200cm^2 is area of triangle DBC

Finding area of triangle DAB

As it is right angled triangle we can find its side by pythagoras theorem

base^2 + height^2 = hypo^2

base=?, height= 9cm, hypo= 15cm

b^2 + 9^2= 15^2

b^2 + 81= 225

b^2 = 144

b = 12 cm         = AB= 12cm

area of triangle= 1/2 * base* height

1/2 * 12^2 * 9^2

5832cm^2 is area of triangle DAB

Adding both areas

7200+5832= 13032

  Area of this quadrilateral= 13032cm^2

Hope it helps you :)
