Average atomic mass of Cl =
 \frac{35 \times 75 + 37 \times 25}{100}
=
 \frac{2625 + 925}{100}
=
 \frac{3550}{100}
= 35.5 u

Given:

Mass of isotope 1 = 35amu

Mass of isotope 2 = 37 amu

% of isotope 1 = 75 = 0.75

% of isotope 2 = 25 = 0.25

To find:

Average atomic mass = ?

Formula to be used:

Average atomic mass = Mass× % of abundance

Calculation:

Average atomic mass two chlorine isotopes

= (35×0.75) + (37×0.25)

= 26.25+9.25

= 35.50 amu.

Conclusion:

The average atomic mass of chlorine if it exists commonly in two isotopes 35/17 Cl (75%) and37/17 cl(25%) is 35.50amu.
