rc= dc-c/2 = 1.54/2 = 0.77

rx = dx-x/2 = 1.2/2 = 0.6

dc-x = rc + rx - 0.09(ex-ec)

     = 0.77 + 0.6 - 0.09(3-2)

     = 1.28 A*

Answer:

The correct answer of this question is 1.18A

Explanation:

Given - The bond length of the C-X bond, if the C-C bond length is 1.54 A, X-X bond length is 1 A, and electronegativity values of C and X are 2 and 3.

To Find - Calculate the bond length of the C-X bond, if the C-C bond length is 1.54 A, X-X bond length is 1 A, and electronegativity values of C and X are 2 and 3 respectively.

Now, according to the question,

The bond length of X-X, M = 1A

The bond length of C-C, N = 1.54A

And, the radius of X-X bond, Rm = M/2 = 0.5A

Radius of C-C bond, Rn = N/2 = 0.77A

So, Bond length of C-X= Rm+Rn-0.09 ( 3-2 )=0.5 + 0.77 - 0.09 = 1.18A

Bond length of C - X is 1.18A

So, the bond length is 1.18A
