It is possible to use Kirchhoff's lawas in a slightly different form which may simplify the solution of certain problems. This method of applying Kirchoff's laws is called the loop current method.

In this method, we assign a current to every closed loop in a network.

Suppose currents i1,i2 and i3 flowing in the thre loops. The clockwise or anti clockwide sence given to these currents is arbitrary. Applying Kirchoff's second law to the three loops. We get

21−5i1−6(i1+i2)−i1=0

5−4i2−6(i1+i2)−8(i2+i3)=0

and 2−8(i2+i3)−16i3=0

Solving these three equations we get

i1=2A,i2=12Aandi3=14A

Therefore current in different brances are as shown in figure given below.
