Molar mass of CO2 = 44 g mol-1

As we already know, the volume of 1 mol of CO2 at STP or 0 degrees C and 760 mm of Hg is 22.4 litres.

So, volume of 1 mol of CO2 at 97 degrees Celsius and 760 mm of Hg will be?

V1= 22.4 litres                                                                    V2=?

P1=1 atm                                                                              P2= 1 atm

760 mm of Hg= 1 atm

T1= 273 K ( 0 degrees Celsius)              T2=97 degrees C or 97+273 K => 370 K

By gas equation, P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

1 * 22.4/ 273 = 1 * V2/370

22.4/273=V2/370

V2=(22.4 x 370)/273 => V2= 30.36 litres (approx.)

Volume= 30.36 * 1000 ml => 30,360 millilitres

Mass= 44 grams

Density= Mass/Volume => 44/30,360

=>0.001449 grams per cm3

=> 1.449 kg per m3
