=> molecular mass (CH3OH) = 12+3+17 = 15+17 = 32

molecular mass (C2H5OH) = 12(2) +1(5) +16(1) +1(1)

=> molecular mass (C2H5OH) = 24+5 + 17 = 29+17 =46

difference = 46-32 = 14

the difference in molecular mass in alkane series is 14 more than the previous one

the difference in formula is CH2
