Given :

Radius of circular path = 2 m

To Find :

Distance covered and displacement of person after completing 2 rounds.

Solution :

Distance is defined as the actual length of path which is covered by moving object.

  • It is a scalar quantity having only magnitude.
  • SI unit : m

Distance covered by object after completing one round will be equal to the perimeter of circle.

➙ D = 2 × 2πr

➙ D = 2 × (2 × 3.14 × 2)

➙ D = 8 × 3.14

D = 25.12 m

Displacement is defined as the shortest distance between initial and final position of the entire journey.

  • It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.
  • SI unit : m

After completing two rounds, body comes back to the initial position.

Hence displacement of person is zero.
