Calculate the displacement caused by the force in horizontal direction when force of 800 N is acting at an angle of 30° to the horizontal and does a work of 80,000 J.

Let S be displacement along horizontal direction.

given, magnitude of force, |F|= 800N

a/c to question,

force is acting at an angle of 30° to the horizontal direction.

so, angle between force and displacement is 30° .

we know, workdone = dot product of force and displacement

W = |F||S|cos30°

or, 80000 = 800 × S × cos30°

or, 100 = S × cos30°

or, S = 100/cos30° = 100/(1/2) = 200m

hence, displacement along horizontal direction is 200m
