The distance of separation between the 3rd and 4th orbit of hydrogen atom is 264.5pm.

To find:

Distance of separation between the 3rd and 4th orbit of hydrogen atom.

Given:

They are orbits of the hydrogen atom.

Solution:

Distance of 3rd orbit.

d_{3} = \frac{52.9*n^{2} }{z} \\

=\frac{52.9 *3^{2} }{1}

=476.1 pm

Distance of 2nd orbit.

d_{2} = \frac{52.9*n^{2} }{z} \\

=\frac{52.9 *2^{2} }{1}

=211.6 pm

Distance of separation between 3rd and 4th orbit = Distance of 3rd orbit – Distance of 2nd orbit

Which is found out by:

476.1 pm− 211.6 pm = 264.5 pm

The distance of separation is 264.5 pm.
