The oxidation state of platinum:-

 Pt + Cl x 6 = - 2

 Pt +(- 1 x 6) = - 2

 Pt - 6 = -2

 Pt = -2+6

 Pt = 4

EAN = Atomic number - Oxidation number + Coordination number x 2)

EAN = 78 - 4 +(6x2)

EAN = 74+12

EAN = 86

2.[Co(en)^{3} ]^{2} 2(SO4)^{3}

The oxidation state of platinum:-

 Co + (en) x 3  = 3

 Co + (0 x 3) = 3

 Co = 3

EAN = Atomic number - Oxidation number + Coordination number x 2)

EAN =27 - 3 +(6x2)

EAN = 24+12

EAN =36

O.N. of central atom (Pt) =

→ 2 × 1 + x - 1 × 6 = 0

→ x = 4

C.N = no. of ligan × denticity

→ 6 × 1

EAN = 78 - 4 + 6 × 2

→ 78 - 4 + 12

→ 90 - 4

Atomic number of Co = 27

oxidation number of Co =
