question : Calculate the equivalent resistance between points A and B In each of the following networks of resistors:

solution : after rearranging, resistors are joined between two points A and B are shown in figure.

step 1 : here there are two systems in which two resistors, each of resistance 2Ω, are joined in series combination.

so, R₁ = R₂ = 2Ω + 2Ω = 4Ω

step 2 : R₁, R₂ and two resistors (each of 2Ω ) are joined in parallel combination.

so, equivalent resistance, Req :

1/Req = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + 1/2Ω + 1/2Ω

= 1/4Ω + 1/4Ω + 1/2Ω + 1/2Ω

= 3/2Ω

Req = (2/3) Ω

Therefore equivalent resistance between points A and B is (2/3)Ω.
