Calculate the equivalent resistance in the following circuit. 2Ω -----------wwww--------- -----------wwww--------- 6Ω 24 V
Answers
equivalent resistance = 2 ohm + 6 ohm
= 8 ohm
= 24/8
= 3 ohm
Given: R₁ = 2
R₂ = 6
Potential difference = 24V
To find: Equivalent resistance of he circuit
Solution: According to the question the two resistances are in series. In case of resistance is in series, then the current will flow equally in both resistance, and the potential difference will be distributed such that the sum of both potential differences will be equal to the emf of the cell.
V = V₁ + V₂
Where V is the potential difference, V₁ is the potential difference across resistor 1, and V₂ is the potential difference across resistor 2.
Since V = IR ( Where I is the total current, and R is the resultant resistance.
Therefore, the resultant resistance in case of series connection will be R = R₁ +R₂
R₁ = 2Ω, R₂ = 6Ω
Therefore, resultant resistance will be = ( 2 + 6 )Ω
= 8Ω
Therefore, the resultant resistance is 8Ω
