Calculate the equivalent resistance of following figure and explain.
Answers
Answer:
so here to begin with, resistors, A and D are in series combination and resistors B and C are also in parellel combination.
but the equivalent resistance that we will get from A,D and B,C will be in parallel combination.
(i think it is sounding a bit confusing, but if you don't understand, noi worry)
so, let's call equivalent resistance of A and D be R1.
R1 = A + D
R1 = 5ohm + 7 ohm
R1 = 12ohm
then, let's call equivalent resistance of B and C as R2
R2 = B+ C
R2 = 16ohm + 8ohm
R2 = 24 ohm
now if we look, R1 and R2 are in parallel combination.
let's call equivalent resistance of R1 and R2 as R3
1/R3 = 1/R1 + 1/R2
1/R3 = 1/12 + 1/24
1/R3 = 2/24 + 1/24
1/R3 = 3/24
1/R3 = 1/8
R3 = 8ohm
so the equivalent resistance of the figure is 8 ohm.
