Initially,lenght of wire = l and area = A

If wire is divided in two equal parts then

1st wire,

length = L1

Area = A1

2nd wire,

length = L2

Area = A2

L1= L2= l/2

Volume will always be constant

V1= V2

=>A1L1 = A2L2

=>A1= A2= A

R = resistivity(rho) x length/Area

so,R1=R2=R/2 = 5

For parallel combination,

1/R(equivalent) = 1/R1 + 1/R2

=> R(equivalent) = R1*R2/(R1+R2)

= 5*5/(5+5)

= 25/10 = 2.5 ohm
