Answer: Given :- R₁ = 2 ohm

                             R₂ = 6 omh

According to question, R₁ and R₂ are in parallel.

→1/R₃ = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂

→1/R₃ = 1/2 + 1/6

→1/R₃ = 4/6

→R₃ = 6/4

→R₃ = 3/2ohm

                                     Thus,  The equivalent resistance is 1.5ohm.

Explanation:

We know that when the resistance are connected in parallel then resistance calculated by :

1 / Re = 1 / R1 + 1 / R2

Given :

R1 = 2 ohm and R2 = 6 ohm

So:

1 / R = 1 / 2 + 1 / 6

1 / R = 4 / 6

R = 6 / 4 = 3 / 2

R = 1.5 ohm Answer.

Thank you
