To convert:

Value of Gas Constant from J/K/mol to Cal/K/mol.

Calculation:

1 calorie \approx 4.2 Joules

 \therefore \: R = 8.314 \: J{K}^{ - 1}  {mol}^{ - 1}

 \rm \implies\: R =  \dfrac{8.314}{4.2}  \: cal \: {K}^{ - 1}  {mol}^{ - 1}

 \rm \implies\: R =1.98\: cal \: {K}^{ - 1}  {mol}^{ - 1}

So, value of Universal Gas Constant is 1.98 Cal/K.mol

Uses of value of R:

  • Ideal Gas equation

  • Index of work done per mole at unit temperature.

Hope It Helps.
