Answer: proton-proton pair, or a neutron-proton pair is the same. That is why nuclear forces are called charge independent forces ie force does not depend on the charge of the nucleon pairs. The nuclear force is attractive upto the range of nuclear forces which is about 1 Fermi. But this attractive force becomes highly repulsive when nucleons come nearer to about 0.6–0.7 Fermi. It is this strong repulsive core of the nuclear forces which prevents matter to collapse to a point. This is true for all types of nucleon pairs.
