F = GMm / r^2
= (6.7 × 10^-11 × 6 × 10^24 × 60) / (6.4 × 10^6)^2
= 588.9 N

A force of 588.9 is being acted on my friend.

Given :

mass of friend (m₁) = 60 Kg

mass of earth (m₂) = 6 × 10^{24} Kg

Radius of earth = 6.4 × 10^{6} m

To Find :

The gravitational force of earth

Solution :

The Gravitational force exerted by earth can be given as,

   The force of gravitation (F)  = \frac{Gm_1m_2}{r^2}

where, G = Gravitational constant; r = Radius of the earth; m₁ = mass of friend; m₂ = mass of earth.

⇒    The force of gravitation (F) = \frac{Gm_1m_2}{r^2}

⇒    The force of gravitation (F) = \frac{6.7 * 10^{-11} * 60 * 6 * 10^2^4 }{(6.4 * 10^6)^{2} }

                                                    =  \frac{2412 * 10^1^3}{40.96 * 10^1^2}

                                                    = 588.87 N

Therefore, the Gravitational Force of earth acting on the friend is 588.87 N
