Impulse = mass×velocity

impulse necessary to stop a 1500kg car moving at rhe speed of 25m/s = 1500×25 = 37500 Kg.m/s

Hey there !

Thanks for the question !

Solution :

Formula to be used : Impulse = Force * Time

Force = Mass * Acceleration

=> Force = Mass * ( V - U / T )

=> Impulse = Mass * ( V - U / T ) * T

T gets cancelled. Hence we get,

Impulse = Mass * ( V - U )

Here the Initial velocity ( U ) = 25 m/s

Final Velocity ( V ) = 0 m/s

Mass = 1500 kg

=> Impulse = 1500 * ( 25 - 0 )

=> Impulse = 1500 * 25 = 37500 Kg.m/s

Hence the impulse necessary to stop a 1500 kg car moving at 25 m/s is 37500 kg.m/s.

Hope my answer helped !
