Question -

Calculate the largest number of small cubes of 3 cm which can be placed inside a large cube of side 20 cm.

Solution -

{\clubs} Given :

  • Side of small cube = 3cm
  • Side of big cube = 20 cm

{ \mathbb{NOW}}

Number of small cubes that can be placed in big cube = {\dfrac{Volume \ of \ big \ cube}{Volume \ of \ small \ cube}}

 \therefore \tt \: number \: of \: cubes \:  =  \dfrac{20 \times 20 \times 20}{3 \times 3 \times 3}

 \implies \tt number \: of \: cubes \:  = 296.29 \\  \tt \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \: \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   = 296 \: cubes

Answer:

Fact :- Cubes have all side equal .

Volume of small cube = side³

=> 3³

=> 3 × 3 × 3

=> 27 cm³

Volume of large cube = 20³

=> 20 × 20 × 20

=> 8000 cm³

Small cube can be placed inside the large cube :-

=> Volume of large cube / Volume of small cube

=> 8000/27

=> 296 ⁸⁄₂₇

Hence, the largest number of small cube which can be placed inside of large cube = 296

I hope it's help you my dear friend.
