Given:-

A Compound Copper Oxide , chemical formula CuO

To Find:-

The mass constituent elements of copper oxide

Solution:-

We know the molecular mass of Copper (Cu) in CuO is 63.54u

and the molecular mass of Oxygen(O) is 16u

So the mass constituent elements of Copper oxide is

 =>  63.54u/16u = 3.9712

  • Learn some more concept -
  • If you want to know the percentage of elements present in CuO then

        You have to find in the following manner -

  1. The total molecular mass of compound CuO is 63.54+16 = 79.54u
  2. The percentage of Cu present in CuO =  63.54/79.54 *100

                         =>    79.88 % Copper is present in Copper oxide

     3. And the percentage of O present in CuO is =  16/79.54 *100

                         =>    20.11% oxygen is present in Copper oxide

Solution:-

So the mass constituent elements of Copper oxide is.

=> 63.54u/16u = 3.9712.

=> 79.88 % Copper is present in Copper oxide.

And the percentage of O present in CuO is = 16/79.54 *100.

=> 20.11% oxygen is present in Copper oxide.
