Q. Calculate the mass of 1 u in grams.

ans = 1.66 \times  {10}^{ - 24}g

Explanation:-

1u =  \frac{1}{12} mass \: of \: th e \: carbon \: atom

then \: mass \: of \: carbon \: atom

6.022 \times  {10}^{23} atoms \: of \: carbon \: weight \:  = 12g

mass \: of \: 1 \: carbon \: atom \:  =  \frac{12}{6.022 \times  {10}^{23} }

 = 1.99 \times  {10}^{ - 23} g

Therefore,

1u  =  \frac{1}{12}  \times 1.99 \times  {10}^{ - 23} g

 = 1.66 \times  {10}^{24} g
